Vision, Bulldogs to meet in championship

by Scott Ludwig

Saturday saw two games with two much different paths to the Midwest Basketball League championship game. By the end of the night Eagan Bulldogs (16-4) and Fort Wayne Vision (15-2) booked their spot in the final.

In the first semifinal game Eagan had little trouble getting past Dallas Kings, the champions of MBL South. The Bulldogs took an early 19-4 advantage and ran away with the win 107-71.

The host team had a much more difficult time of it with the two-time MBL champion Cedar Valley CourtKings in their way. The visitors jumped on Fort Wayne early leading 34-15 after one quarter. That advantage would grow to 22-points at one time before halftime when the scoreboard read 56-38.

Early on in the third the Vision began their comeback. Outscoring Cedar Valley 25-11 in the quarter Fort Wayne made it a five-point game going into the final frame. The teams battled back-and-forth with the lead changing hands a few times in the final minutes, but it was the Vision who were victorious in the end 92-89.
